Default Armour Taxi?

Been approached a few times in Kamadan asking to be a taxi to get armour from consulate docks, even seen people offering this service for 500g.

Surely a char that has not been there will not be able to get zoned there?
Anyone know if this is a bug/exploit or scam.

It works. Not from zoning, from the end of "the Time is Nigh".

Never pay for it. People do it for free. I consider it to be tacky and low class to charge money for it. And it may be considered an exploit, depending on whether or not it was meant to be programmed to let anyone team up and go to the Consulate Docks like that.

I can understand asking for money for a real run like Droks. That takes time, effort and skill. But this ferry at Kamadan is just a few mouse clicks.

People in the docks can be ferried to Lions Arch and Cantha. Never pay for those either. People will do it free. Same thing.

Ferrying is a service of sorts but this one really isn't worth paying for. Hardly an "exploit" though.

If Anet didn't want this to happen then they would have changed it by now.

I generally tip my ferries pretty generously. I'v gotten 3 ferries and tipped them each 500g, which is quite generous considering they only needed to click the mouse about 3 times.

For the record, it is more than just a few mouse clicks. The ferry has to do the entire "The Time is Nigh" quest, which will take a few minutes just to get to the point where they can ferry. I'm not saying it's hard, but it does take time to set up.

OMG! You are joking? You have to do the quest anyway. Once you get to where you can ferry, you can continue to leave without getting the reward and ferry more people. For repeated runs, it's a few mouse clicks.

I think we're getting dangerously close to explaining how this works, which I think the administrator of this forum doesn't seem to want on here.

Anyways, yes I do this "ferry" too and I always do it free. It's like a check to keep the ferry prices down or make it optional tips only, which I've seen other ferriers switch to when I'm there doing it free. My aim really is to discourage them from charging or even asking for tips, and everyone else from paying for it. There are others doing it free too and the effort is catching on.

I also ferry to LA and Cantha for free.

I once accepted a tip only because the person persisted and I didn't want to blow them off. But I never ask for any or want any. It's not a big deal.

Once you go to Consulate Docks through the cutscene at the Consulate - The Assistant in the Consulate won't take you there again.

You have to abandon the quest, re-take it and do it up to that point again. Which is only...2minutes tops...but its alittle more involved than just zoning into Kamadan->Pick up People->Zone into Consulate Docks and repeat.

Still not worth 1k a ferry, but I want to end the notion that this is like Urgoz or the Deep ferrying - there is alittle more involved.

EDIT:

Where do you get that impression? This isn't an exploit or bug or anything of the sort. I can name several other places in the game where you can easily skip around without doing the storyline, and anyway about all this does is let them go to Tyria and Cantha alittle early and get max armor alittle early - They still cannot continue the storyline of Nightfall without having done the right quests and such.

There was another post somewhere where this is explained. Infact I explained exactly how to do this. And the entire thread was deleted.

Hardly an exploit.
it is a design flaw ... sort of like warping from the guildhall to the elite missions or the 20% any spell rockmolder

Anet remembered to lockout missions so you have to do them in order they just forgot to add the proper checks for that town, maybe?

An exploit for example is duping items, adding 2 enchant mods to an axe, or making 15% -1 weapons into unconditional weapons (many mods in this forum have some) or bringing max dmg weapons to presear.

Now that i look at it .. sort of hard to determine what is an exploit or what is considered a design flaw.....

Unconditional weapons were never removed from the game.!!!
The duel enchant mod on an axe was fixed and current people with the axe lost it.
Bringing max dmg weapons to presear was fixed weapons are still there.
Rockmolder 20% any skill was fixed and stats fixed on existing ones.
Bringing people to elite missions when you were not in the controling alliance wasn't fixed.

IDK

I'm not saying this is an exploit. If I used words that indicate that it is, I didn't mean to. I guess it's debatable.

But ripping 1k off people per person is tacky and low class for the little or no effort involved.

There's a few others doing it free, we keep in contact and cover the busy districts and make sure no one is cheapskating 1k or 500 gold off people.

It sucks that some new people who only have NF and don't have much gold may think it's part of the game to pay some money grubber to get armor. It's the ingame version of ticket scalping.

Regardless how you define this issue (design flaw, exploit etc. ... we can debate this forever) ... this is an unintended benefit to taxi/ferry another character before they would received the quest themselves.
